Well run once again, many thanks to our hosts. 7 games, at an easy pace and we were wrapped up by 5.30. So home just after 7.30 - thanks to Eileen for ferrying us down. Kudos to Richard for making the long trip, I am sure everyone is glad of the opportunity to pit wits and words against him, in vain though it usually is ! Anne produced a whizzbang FANCIEST for 194 in the final round. Don't we all wish for these moments! Well done Anne! I am sure there were many more tales of triumph (AND woe) throughout the day. I paused longingly at Antigone for a would be 9-timer in game one. This brush with mythology seems to have been noticed - the gods turned gimlet eyes on my opponents for the rest of the day. I am sure RK wondered how someone who takes every opportunity to display ignorance, indecision & carelessness could be 220 up. Such is this game of ours! Am worried now another jumble has quickly followed LENTGH*. This I took back up in disgust, hardly waiting for a challenge, a few weeks ago. Yesterday I stared in consternation at ENTRHAL* (or some anagram!) "Oh, you've spelt it wrongly", said RK too late, which idea I couldn't take in at all. "Is he mad? What, do I need another L ??", I thought. It's like an electric shock. "What fool did that?" you think. Sigh ! To atone I left PITT* alone later, never thinking to look :) R
