Rita Hennessy 0 -373 A good win win for Mary who beat Theresa by 28 in the final round. A pleasure to meet Nalini who did very well and I hope comes again esp. when our numbers are up. I was outplayed twice by Theresa in rd 4 and 5, and not for the first time either. But in the final game when Brid had just dropped in QuOITS/OHO-S to scupper any ideas of S hooks, I had this : AEERSSU ... After a bit my gloom lifted ... and I thought "hey, that blank on the board is a U" and I could play what I hadn't known in the final round in the Irish Championship with Chris in Cork 2007 and which ignorance then surely cost me 3rd place. One lesson learnt at least! (see below) I believe Brid had a 9-timer today BOGGLING :) Maria asked about learning stuff ... the 5-vowel eights are some 450 odd in number and will provide plenty of entertainment AND do appear regularly. They'll provide you with bonus plays when otherwise you might score next to nothing! Other fun words today GALVO, FURCA and hooray HENRY spelled the right way round :) by Brid Ronan . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . it's down below someplace ... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . URAE-u-SES The unplayable 7s are RESEAUS, SEASURE and UREASES (this last was the only one that came to mind, but I didn't dwell on it as there was obviously no 7 going in)
