The All-Ireland Scrabble Championships (and AGM) took place in Hotel Curracloe on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November 2024.
We had a great turnout, with 41 players in total – 24 in the A group, and 17 in the B group. 15 rounds, with the top player in each group Gibsonised in the last round.
There was also a 4-game novice event both days, with 7 players taking part on Saturday and 2 players on Sunday. Majella won on Saturday, Patrick was in 2nd place and David ws in 3rd place. Well done to the novices, and we hope to see you all at future tournaments!
The new All Ireland champion is Lukeman, with 13 wins and a spread of +1848. Well done Lukeman!
In second place was Sam with 12 wins and a spread of +413, and in third place was Oisín with 10 wins and a spread of +649.
Winner of the B group was Shane with 14 wins and a spread of +1932 – what a tournament for a relatively new player! Well done Shane!
In second place was Aileesh with 12 wins and a spread of +708, and in third place was Sally with 11 wins and a spread of +772.
Winner of the high word was Paula who scored 140 for SNOOTILY.
